Ok, so link spammers have ruined SEO for the rest of us. As a primer, your page rank depends on the quantity and quality of incoming links to your site among other things. Since Google is waging a war against aggressive use of paid links, how can your site rank higher you ask? According to Neil Patel in a recent article, you have to do it the old-fashioned way: you EARN it by building real links. From Neil:
“Trust me, I have had a ton of sites that I personally owned that got banned from Google… so take a page out of my book and learn from my mistakes. Don’t waste your time buying links.”
In short:
- Ask people to link to your content
- Write better, engaging content
- Submit your site to directories
- Write a guest post (that links to your site)
It does seem simple, and it’s definitely not sexy. But with a little hard and consistent work, you will see your page rank rise.
